The Darwin’s theory about evolution of species effect every living organism in this planet and take place over thousand of years.
With this evolution progress, the wild wolf became pet dog (canis lupus familiaris) and we gave it different forms and types, even different temperaments, in order to ’’fit’’ to our different purposes and work we want them to do for us (hunting, herding, guarding, companion e.t.c) . End the evolution is still going on…
But it’s a shame and pity, to transform such a dynamic and multiple purposes working dog , to a non useful ,slothful, unlively accessory for living room.. This has to do with all the dog breeds that we treat and transform this way.
We should at last , try to breed dogs capable of doing the work that they where made for and not just to satisfy the marketing and fashion of the times. A true shar-pei is strictly a working dog and that’s the way it mast remain!
We change its form in a way that is close of loosing it’s working ability. If we change it’s temperament also, then we won’t speak for the same dog. We will then have to change it’s name too, because it won’t be the same , it won’t be a SHAR-PEI…
