The dog shows, are not  not beauty contests, as many believe. The dogs there, compared with one another and individually, on how close they reach, their breed standard. Each breed of dog, has some specific features in appearance and character. All these characteristics of genotype and phenotype, are registered on the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) and are the ”breed standards” .
